History of Ayurveda

Ayurveda originated in India almost 5000 years back and is considered as one of the greatest gifts of spiritual and physiological healing offered to the world. Considered as divine in origin and is believed to have been taught by Lord Brahma to Acharya Ved Vyas. This science is being practiced for a long time, but it is only quite later that sages and seers penned the treatises of this science. The Ayurveda finds its mention in Sushruta Samhita, Atharva Veda and Charaka Samhita. Ayurveda talks about Five Elements in Nature. These are • Prithvi (Akash) • Akash (Space) • Jal (Water) • Vayu (Air) • Fire (Agni) The combination of these five elements reflects as Doshas in the human body in varying proportions. These Doshas are Vatta, Pitta and Kapha. These doshas may manifest themselves in human beings in varying strengths. The dosha which is the most predominant in a person helps in deciding his line of treatment. The treatment helps in bringing these dosahs in perfect balance.
